Our commitment to providing property and evidence to all sections of court, attorneys and the public with professional and quality service.
The Clerk of Criminal District Court – Property and Evidence Department is responsible for the receipt, storage,
safekeeping and release or disposal of all property or evidence that comes under its custodial jurisdiction.
- All Property and Evidence collected for 1st and 2nd-degree murder, armed robbery and rape are stored indefinitely under the custody of the Clerk of Criminal District Court.
- In all other cases, pursuant to the order of the court, Property and Evidence may be released following the outcome of the case, when a verdict is determined by the Judge presiding over the case.
- Evidence may be released by a Judge, a Magistrate Judge, or the District Attorney’s Office per a signed Release of Evidence Motion from a Judge.
